Today I have for you a little Christmas poem. May you and yours have a very Merry Christmas!
It was the day before Christmas and all through the house
Not a person was working, not even my spouse.
There were clothes in the dryer, still wet from the morn
And dishes on the counter, just as dirty as before.
The toddler was down for a short morning nap
And I sat on the couch, with the computer on my lap.
Christmas cards remained, unaddressed over there
I hope family knows that we tried, that we care.
It’s raining outside, and my how so drear!
But inside is different, so please have no fear
Our fake tree in the corner is prettily lit
And under it, soon all the presents will sit.
Come tomorrow, our daughter shall wake
And I smile thinking what expression she’ll make.
She will dance, she will clap, and probably sing
Wondering who could have brought her these things.
She will smile and squeal, filled with the greatest delight
And her joy tomorrow makes today’s work all right.
